“Orange is the New Black” Season 2 Update Round-Up: What to Expect from New Season?
"Orange is the New Black" is one of the most talked about shows of this year. It premiered on Web streaming site, Netflix, on June 23, 2013. The drama series, created by Jenji Kohan, is based on memoir by the same name, written by Piper Kerman.
The second season of "Orange is the New Black" is likely to premiere sometime next year, but the buzz around the show that revolves around the lives of women in orange jumpsuits has not abated. In August, the social networking sites exploded with the news of Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause, quitting the show and the probability of her appearing in only one episode of Season 2 to wrap-up her storyline. Netflix and Kohan have not confirmed about Prepon's future in the second season of "Orange is the New Black."
Prepon said that she is "definitely" coming back but did not completely squash the buzz about her quitting "Orange is the New Black." Prepon's co-actors also have no clue whether the actress is returning or not.
Taylor Schilling, the actress playing the principal role of suburbanite Piper Chapman, had said that the new season is going to be more "compelling." She had told the Huffington Post that "all of the characters and all of the dynamics are just going deeper."
Danielle Brooks, who portrays inmate Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson, had said to E! Online that the writing for the second season is even better than the first season. She thinks that "people are going to be so excited about season two."
The second season of "Orange is the New Black" will no longer completely focus on Piper as it will be more "ensemble" in nature and all the characters will have more or less equal screen time. "As much as I love Piper and Taylor and her journey, I think people are interested in everybody's journey," Jenji had said as quoted by TV Guide.
"Orange Is the New Black" began airing in Australia on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 on Showcase. Australians, it is time to get updated on Season 1 for you.
