‘Orange is the New Black Story’ Season 3 Update: New Corrections Officer To Be Introduced, Likely To Take Pornstache's Position At Litchfield Penitentiary
Marsha Stephanie Blake is the latest addition to the cast of "Orange is the New Black" Season 3. She has been roped in to play the new corrections officer at Litchfield Penitentiary. According to reports, her character's name is "Berdie." She is likely to take the place of "Pornstache," as he was arrested in Season 2 on allegations that he had sexual intercourse with inmate Daya and made her pregnant. He was sent to prison.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Blake has a recurring role. More details about this new character have not been revealed. As reportedly previously, George "Pornstache" Mendez will not be starring in Season 3. Pablo Schreiber, who plays the role of "Pornstache," has a leading role in HBO's "The Brink" and the actor saw the leading role as a better move as an actor. "Pornstache" exits but Mary Steenburgen has signed on to play the role of his mother in "Orange is the New Black" Season 3.
The Christian Post has quoted Schreiber as saying to TV Line, "... his [Pornstache] mother is making an appearance on Season 3. Mary Steenburgen has been cast as my mom. I'm not sure what she'll do that will advance the Pornstache plotline, but for now, Mendez is in prison, biding his time. Spoiler alert!"
In addition to Steenburgen, Mike Birbiglia and Blair Brown have also joined the Season 3 cast of Netflix's original dramedy series. Laura Prepon is returning as a series regular in Season 3. The actress has confirmed that her character Alex Vause will appear in all the episodes of the upcoming season. Vause may end up in the prison once again. In the last season finale, Vause's patrol officer caught her pointing a gun at him.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in June 2015. Jenji Kohan, creator of this drama comedy, has said that to a certain extent "faith" will be the theme of the new season.
