There was a rather rotund streaker who interrupted the State of Origin match between the Blues and the Maroons was sorry, but apparently not as sorry as Mitchell Pearce, who, according to Sydney Roosters fans, was even more embarrassing than the fat naked bald dude.

Three minutes before the game concluded, Wati Holmwood ran over 100 metres across the ANZ Stadium, prompting security to chase him down and the game to be interrupted.

Players tried to run past security and do their thing, while the apparently heavily intoxicated Holmwood was tackled to the ground.

“I’m sorry, I apologise about what happened, am I in trouble now?” Holmwood, 33, told The Telegraph.

He was taken to the Flemington local area command, and was given a $5,000 fine and a field court attendance notice for wilful and obscene exposure and entering or remaining on the field of play without authorisation. ANZ Stadium and NRL officials also confirmed that he is facing a lifetime ban from the venue and all rugby league matches.

If the punishment seems harsh, it’s probably because the Wednesday incident wasn’t the first time he had performed such thing. He also sprinted naked at the Allianz Stadium in 2011 during the qualifying final between the Wests Tigers and New Zealand Warriors.

“It all happened so quickly, I don’t know what was going through my head,” he said. “I just wanted to make it interesting but I stuffed up Origin. A lot of people hate me now.”

Yes, a lot of people hate him now, as evidenced by the reactions on social media. He was said to have turned the State of Origin III into a farcical play, but the title of the most hated man on the field isn’t entirely accurate, just ask the NSW fans.

For them, halfback Mitchell Pearce was the least loved person in the field, one whom they would rather not see again more than they would the fat naked bald guy.

“Deep down I was hoping security was on the field to drag Mitchell Pearce off,” Twitter user Tim Freeburn wrote.

Pearce, the son of former test player Wayne Pearce, committed too many errors during the game that fans could only look and shout in dismay over his ineptness.

Some of 24-year-old footballer’s upsetting blunders made him look like a newbie trying out for an amateur set when in fact he has had five seasons prior to perfect.

While many fans were outraged at Pearce over the Blues’ loss, some were a bit more understanding, saying that he was just being used as a scapegoat.

In the end, the Maroons defeated the Blues 12-10, wrapping up their eighth straight record series.
