'The Originals' season 4 may be the last of the lot
“The Originals” fans are worried of possibility that the show would end after its fourth season. “The Originals” season four is sinking with cancellation rumours following the announcement that the original series, “The Vampire Diaries,” will end after season eight.
There have been rumours in the past of a crossover between “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.” The news of decreased number of episodes for season four of “The Originals” generated a lot of cancellation rumours, claiming that the spinoff series may follow its predecessor.
The same thing earlier happened to the original series, “The Vampire Diaries.” The show was reduced to 16 episodes after it was announced to end in season eight. One possible reason for this could be that the shows are not gaining many viewers.
Fans recently learned that “The Originals” season four is definitely going to have only 13 episodes. The fact that the latest season will not be airing until January 2017 worried the fans further. While The CW says that this is to strengthen the mid-season line up, it seems more valid that the step was actually taken due to reduced viewing figures.
On the other hand, some fans are still hopeful that the series could still see a fifth season. The CW executive Mark Pedowitz expressed the same, as claimed by GameNGuide. He believes that the spinoff series had a chance to stand on its own, despite the ending of “The Vampire Diaries.”
It is still possible that “The Originals” might be saved even if cancellation is on the table, if season four manages to enhance its ratings and boost viewership numbers significantly.
Fans are quite eagerly waiting season four, nevertheless.
