Osama Bin Laden Raid Story Is ‘one big lie’: Hersh
The raid by the U.S. military to capture Osama Bin Laden is "one big lie," according to Seymour Hersh.
The Pulitzer Prize winning journalist said that no a single word of the Osama story, circulated by the U.S. government, was true. Mr Hersh is reportedly working on a book on the national security. The book will contain a complete chapter entirely dedicated to the Bin Laden fraud.
Mr Hersh accused the Obama government of being a liar when he was interviewed by The Guardian. The veteran journalist claimed that the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden by the U.S. Navy Seals involved a "big lie." He has also called the American media extremely "Obsequious" as he says that the American media is afraid to be critical of the U.S. president.
Mr Hersh expressed his ideas to bring about a positive change in journalism. He wants ABC and NBC news bureaus to be forced to close down. He also demands to sack 90 per cent of editors involved in publishing. He claims that a journalist must get back to the basics of journalism, which is being an outsider.
Mr Hersh, as an investigative journalist, exposed many a U.S. president since the 1960s. The Republican Party once described him as the "terrorist" of American journalism. Mr Hersh, on the other hand, is furious about the cowardice of the American journalism. He believes that the American media has failed to confront the White House. They have also failed to risk popularity to be a "messenger of truth." According to him, the New York Times serves the U.S. president ("carrying water for Obama").
He rubbishes the report published by a Pakistani commission on Osama's daily life in Abottabad (Pakistan). He doubted the 'independent' nature of the report as he accused the report to have 'considerable American input.' He further accused American media giants to keep mum even though the U.S. administration continued to tell 'systematic' lies.
The Guardian amended the article on the interview with Mr Hersh later on and said that Mr Hersh did not suggest that Osama had not been killed in Pakistan. He rather meant that the Obama administration started lying after it had happened.
