There are only a few days left before the Oscars, and not only are we excited to know the winners for the major acting awards, but we also have our eyes set on who will rock (or not) the red carpet.

Judging by the looks seen at the Golden Globes, Grammys, and other prestigious award events, this year may just be a year of cutouts, fishtails, metallics, and color for the Oscar red carpet.

Cutouts

Despite the wardrobe advisory issued days before the Grammys, singing superstars rocked the cutout trend, with 23-year-old Taylor Swift leading the pack. Taylor looked gorgeous and all-grown up in a sexy white J. Mendel gown accented with silver cutouts, baring her back. It also seemed to be a major trend in the Golden Globes, with Kristen Wiig's effortlessly sexy Michael Kors dress.

Cutouts will surely also be a favorite in the Oscars. It's a great way to show bits of skin, and when done properly and in all the right places, it gives off maximum sex appeal without being trashy.

Fishtails

From Amy Adam's blush Marchesa gown to Jessica Alba's stunning coral Oscar de la Renta trumpet gown in the Golden Globes, body-hugging fishtail frocks are definitely everywhere in the red carpet, and stars have donned it for a good reason.

Fishtail hems are flirty, feminine, and sophisticated. It gives an instant glamorous look, and other than the whole "going up a flight of stairs" conundrum in the Oscars, there is no reason why this trend won't grace the red carpet.

Metallics

Renowned celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe is hoping to see a lot of metallics at the Oscars, she said in an interview with On the Red Carpet.

The shiny looks of Naomi Watts, Julia Stiles and Jennifer Garner in the SAG Awards just prove that metallics still remain as a lasting trend in the red carpet, which probably would carry over until the Oscars.

Color

Move over, LBDs and LWDs. Color is now taking the spotlight.

Although we saw a lot of whites and nudes at the Golden Globes in the likes of Anne Hathaway's Chanel couture strapless gown and Amanda Seyfried's peek-a-boo Givenchy dress, Jennifer Lawrence knocked us out as she sizzled in an orange-red Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, breaking the prevailing color trend that night.

The hot shade made a powerful statement on the Golden Globes red carpet, and it surely would do the same in the Academy.

The 85th Academy Awards is set on February 24.
