Oscar 2014 Best Actress Preiction: Judi Dench Might Take The Charge From Meryl Streep
Just as the Oscar 2014 is nearing (just four months away) there are many surprise additions in the award race. The recent is Judi Dench. The actress is being predicted to be nominated in the Best Actress category for the 2014 Academy Awards. The prediction has come after it was announced that Weinstein Company would be announcing its Cannes acquisition "Philomena" on November 22.
In the past years Weinsten Company has given many award winning films such as "Silver Lining Playbook, on-Tiki," "The Master" and "Django Unchained. The company has won Oscar for Picture for the films, "The Artist" and "The King's Speech".
Starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan in the lead role the, "Philomena" has created Oscar buzz since it was screened at the Venice and Toronto film festival. The film tells a story of a political journalist who has taken up a story of a woman in search of her son. Dench plays the title character Philomena Lee. Her performance has been hailed by the critics and if nominated, this would be her second nomination after 2006 (Notes of Scandal).
The film is directed by Stephen Frears, who has to his credit films like "The Queen" and "High Fidelity". "Philomena "has already won best screenplay at the Venice Film Festival and People Choice runner up at the Toronto Film Festival.
Judi Dench's character of a mother in search of her son for 50 years is being eyed by the industry pundits as a strong contender in the Best Actress category. It is also being thought that since Weinsten Company is known for impressive Oscar campaigns, Judi Dench can take a lead from Meryl Streep (August Osage County) and Sandra Bullock (Gravity).
