Oscar 2014 Best Adapted Screenplay Predictions: From George Clooney's 'The Monument Man' to Martin Scorsese's 'The Wolf of Wall Street'
Yesterday we told you which films may helm the Best Original Screenplay Academy Award nomination; today let's take at the films which could be nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The film leading the pack in the best adapted screenplay category is George Clooney's "The Monument Man". The film which was based on the book 'The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History' by Robert M. Edsel, is yet to be released. However, the concept of the film where a group undertakes the task to save fine arts and monuments has created a strong buzz and with George Clooney on the director's chair, there is no reason why industry pundits won't consider this film for the award.
Another predicted nomination in the Best Adapted Screenplay nomination can be Martin Scorsese;s "The Wolf of Wall Street". Yet to hit the theaters, the film's compelling official trailer has made it a strong prediction in major Academy Award Categories. The film stars Leonardo Di Caprio in a leading role and has been inspired from the true story of Jordan Belfort 's rise and fall as a wealthy stockbroker. The script of the film is written by Sopranos writer Terence Winter. Winter has worked with Scorsese on HBO's Broadwalk Empire and from the trailer, every scene of the film looks riveting.
"Labor Day" directed by Jason Reitman is another film which would be heating up the Best Adapted Screen play race. The film stars Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin and tells a story about depressed single mom, Adele.The film opened in Toronto Film Festival and was raved for its ingenious screen direction.
John Wells "August: Osage County" is adapted from play by Tracy Letts. The play has won 2008 Pulitzer Prize and is now adapted for the big screen starring legendry Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. The film screened at Toronto film festival and Meryl Streep has been immensely praised for her performance.
