Oscars 2014 are just around the corner. The nominations for the all the categories have been announced and this year will see nine nominations under Best film category. We take a look at nine films, which have a nomination nod from the Academy Awards 2014.

12 Year A Slave: This year's front runner for the Oscar, "12 Year a Slave" has already won a slew of BAFTA awards and Golden Globes. The film is directed by Steve Macqueen and is a poignant tale of Solomon Northup who was sold into slavery in Washington, D.C. in 1841. The film has got nine nods at Oscars and film critics believe that this is a sure winner at this year's academy awards.

Gravity: A Sandra Bullock and George Clooney Vehicle, "Gravity" has already made its mark globally. The film has not only got critical success but immense box office success. The movie tells the story of two astronauts who are fighting for survival in space after their space ship breaks.

Philomena: Steve Coogan's "Philomena" has got four academy nods. The film tells a story of woman who has been searching for her 50 years. The film is based on he Lost Child of Philomena Lee by Martin Sixsmith and was awarded the People's Choice Award Runner-Up prize at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. The film got Judi Dench nominations at Golden Globes and BAFTA and now she will be fighting in best actress category at the Academy Awards.

American Hustle: Winner of three Golden Globes and 10 BAFTA nominations, "American Hustle" has got 10 Oscar nods. The film is a crime-comedy drama directed by David O Russel where Amy Adams and Christian Bale play con artists who are forced to do a sting operation by an FBI agent on corrupt politicians.

The Wolf of Wall Street: Being called Scorsese's best film in 20 years " The Wolf of Wall Street" has become a global phenomenon. According to Robbie Collin of The Telegraph "The Wolf of Wall Street, the new Martin Scorsese film, comes blowing into cinemas with gusts of outrage at its back. Scorsese's 23rd feature in almost 50 years - and best in more than 20."

Other films nominated in the Best Film Category are: "Her", "Nebraska" and "Dallas Buyers Club"
