Technology has invaded Oscars. Now there's electronic voting, wherein winners are discovered in just a single click. Indeed everything is slowly crawling into the generation where advanced technology runs the life of people.

The electronic voting system will be started next year, as confirmed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that made the announcement. It will be the Academy's first time to vote potential winners through an electronic system strategy.

Electronic voting is believed to be more secure. It will be using military-code encryption techniques to keep the system protected. Well I guess, as long as the representatives who know the code are trustworthy, no cheating can be expected.

To pursue this major change and begin setting up the new system, the Academy signed a contract with Everyone Counts Inc. The agreement has gained the Academy access to work exclusively with PricewaterhouseCoopers for the creation of the new voting system.

The old voting system which uses paper ballots, which are sent through mail, are found out unreliable due to issues of cheating. The previous system is less secure and time consuming. The electronic technique will fasten the process and make more accurate results.

The Academy's chief operating officer, Ric Robertson, said this system is considered the Academy's initial step toward achieving the goal of developing a safe and convenient electronic voting system.

The Academy Awards 2012 celebration will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles at Feb. 26. The event will be aired live on ABC7.

The lucky host for this year's ceremony is celebrity Billy Crystal, making his 9th period.
