Oscar Pistorius’ High Emotion Could be Alibi
The drama over Reeva Steenkamp's death still rages on, as Oscar Pistorius faced some grueling situation with the prosecutor at the second week of the opening of murder trial.
The prosecutor Gerrie Nel accused the former Paralympics star of using high emotion to dissuade the tough question to arrive at a conclusion.
"Mr Pistorius, you're not using your emotional state to escape, are you?" Prosecutor Nel stated after Oscar broke down again in the middle of the trial.
Right from the start of the trial, Pistorius broke down time and again when the gruesome incident was presented in front of him. His stance hasn't changed as he constantly clarified that he killed Steenkamp by mistake.
The prosecutor further alleged that Pistorius' stand does not have any valid point and that was why he constantly tried to defend himself by crying.
"You're getting frustrated because your version is improbable and you're getting emotional," the prosecutor said.
On Monday night during the testimony, Oscar was emotionally stirred as he tried to re-enact the scene that happened at the fateful night.
The fierce and aggressive mood of the prosecutor was to break the shackles and hit the actual truth what Oscar is trying to hide.
"You know exactly, you fired at Reeva. These other versions cannot work, you fired at her, you did. Why are you getting emotional now?" Nel added.
But Oscar came to the same ground, stating the fact that he really had not murdered his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Oscar's lawyer intervened in the middle, requesting Judge Thokozile to stop pressing his client with constant emotional torture.
"My Lady, I didn't have time to think. I heard this noise, and I thought it was somebody coming out to attack me so I fired my firearm," Pistorius said.
"Your defence has now changed, sir, from putative self-defence to involuntary action. Is that what you're telling me?" Nel said in reply.
Oscar further stated he doesn't understand the law and simply trying to abide by the truth.
"I don't understand the law, Ma'am, what I can reply and tell the court is what I'm asked and I can reply as to what I thought," Oscar added.
The forensic department earlier has presented the report of having undigested food in both their stomach. But the evidence does not match Oscar's story as he claimed they were both asleep prior to the event.
The prosecutor constantly accused Oscar that his version is "a lie."
The behaviour of Oscar during the grueling sessions seemed to be baffling at times. At any point when the athlete has faced the real fact or some questions concerning the death of his girlfriend, Oscar resorted to crying or simply stated the fact of his forgetfulness on some parts of the entire event.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Reeva's sister Simone Steenkamp with Daily Mail on Sunday, she clearly accused Oscar for her sister's death and referred to Oscar as a liar.
"He is trying to convince the court that they were really close and that he cared for her. It's not true. He is a disgusting liar,"
