Oscar winner, Halle Berry has asked to be released from her latest film project, “New Year’s Eve” in preparation for the custody battle against ex-boyfriend and model, Gabriel Aubry over daughter, Nahla.

The former James Bond star’s representative, Meredith O’Sullivan reiterated that Berry expresses serious concerns over her daughter and has set her sights in fighting for full-custody.

“Halle has serious concerns for her daughter’s well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her,” the actress’s representative told People.com.

Forty-four year-old Berry met 35 year-old model, Aubry during a fashion shoot in 2005 and has been together until they called it quits last year. Their daughter, Nahla, turns three in March.

The former couple appeared to be in good terms at the beginning of their split as can be noted in post-break up interviews. Both maintained to share custody of the child in hopes to allow her grow up with much love from both her parents.

But things did not appear too well months after the separation.

Hollywoodbaby.com said that Gabriel filed legal papers in a Los Angeles court in December last year, ‘seeking to be formally recognized as little Nahla’s father’.

“She has attempted to resolve these custody issues amicably with her daughter’s father, Gabriel Aubry, directly, but given his lack of cooperation, Halle has no choice but to seek swift judicial intervention, ” Berry’s spokeswoman said.

Halle Berry received her first Oscar’ Best Actress award in 2001 for her role in Monster’s Ball. She is the first black artist to have won the much coveted award.
