Oscars 2014 Best Actress Prediction: No Win for Nicole Kidman for 'Grace of Monaco?'
Nicole Kidman's 'Grace of Monaco' may have been left behind in the race to Oscars 2014.
It is being predicted by the industry pundits that in its wake to stay away from the film festival competitors, Oliver Dahan's film has failed to make any impression on the film mongers. The film was supposed to open in theToronto film festival, however looking at the fierce competition, the makers of the film pulled out the film from the festival circuit. Would this cost the Oscar to the Nicole Kidman Starrer?
'Grace of Monaco' tells the story of Grace Kelly, a former Hollywood star who suffers from marriage and identity crisis amidst the political upheaval. When the film was announced in the starting of the year it was said that Nicole Kidman has land the most coveted role and is a unprecedented best actress winnder for the Oscars 2014. However, not following the right marketing techniques seem to have cost the film.
For reaching to a wider audience the film should have made it presence felt to the media and the audience. One of the best way to do it was to screen at the prestigious film festivals. Now many prognosticators believe that with stars like Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts, winning accolades for their roles in 'Gravity and 'August Osage County' respectively, will make it tough for Kidman.
Also, Oliver Dahan's who got Marion Cotillard an Oscar, is from a foreign origin and it is a known fact that an English film from the arsenal of a Foreign director may not strike a gold every time. However, we still wish that Kidman's much anticipated film does not become a victim of bad marketing, and that it gets its due.
