"The Other Guys" star Mark Wahlberg to appear in new "The Crow" movie
The Other Guys star Mark Wahlberg is currently in talks to star in a remake or sequel of The Crow. Mark Wahlberg is set to replace Bradon Lee who was killed when a prop gun misfired on the set of the original film.
No offer has yet been made but reports say Wahlberg is in talks with Relativity Media.
The 1994 movie The Crow orginally starred Brandon Lee as Eric Draven, a rock musician revived from the dead to avenge his and fiancee's murder.
The Alex Proyas-directed eponymous comic book adaptation is Lee's final film. He was wounded by a dummy bullet shot from a prop gun, leading to his death. In spite of the incident, the film opened at the top of the box office, and was both a commercial and critical success.
In 1996, a sequel The Crow: City of Angels was made with Vincent Perez as the new Ashe Corven.
In October last year, it was announced that a sequel or a remake of The Crow is underway with Stephen Norrington in the director's seat. It will be produced by Relativity media and is scheduled for release next year.
Wahlberg previously starred Max Payne, a gothic movie based on a video game. He earned nominations from several award-giving bodies including the Academy Awards for his turn in the 1996 Martin Scorsese's film The Departed. He is also the executive producer for the hit HBO series, The Entourage. Wahlberg was last seen on screen on The Other Guys, co-starring with Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrel.
