The opening scene of “Outlander” episode 9 has been released by the producers. The episode will be shown from Jamie Fraser’s point of view for the first time. The opening scene does not pick up immediately from the ending of episode 8. [Warning: Spoilers Alert]

The executive producer of “Outlander,” Ronald D. Moore, appeared in the video released by Starz and spoke about the opening scene being released just for the eager fans. The video was posted on the official Starz YouTube channel but access to the video is blocked for viewers in some countries. The video is however available on other channels on YouTube.

Fans of the franchise have so far seen the TV series from Claire Randall’s point of view. Some of the previous trailers of the TV series show Claire pondering over her situation. But the opening scene of episode 9 shows the viewers the thoughts of Jamie Fraser.

The opening scene of “Outlander” episode 9 begins with a big waterfall and Jamie Fraser skipping stones on a small body of flowing water. He is seen thinking about all the events and people from his past and the choices he made that had led him to the present moment.

Jamie talks about living a life that was different from the other men and felt that it was strange how some moments in life get “bound into your heart forever” while some others “fade into the mist.” He says that every man has to make choices in life, choices between right and wrong, love and hate and sometimes between life and death. Jamie realises that he became a man the day he realised that his life is the sum total of all the choices he made in the past.

Jamie’s wife Claire cannot be seen in the video, but there is a blonde woman walking towards him in the background of the opening scene. Episode 8 of “Outlander” ended with Jamie stopping Jack Randall from a rape attempt on Claire. Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to see what happens in the next episode that airs on April 4, 2015.
