A new soundtrack of the “Outlander” TV series will be releasing in September and is currently available for pre-order, before its official release. An extended version of the theme song “The Skye Boat Song” has been released online.
The “Outlander” soundtrack volume 2 will be available from Sept 25 and a sneak peek of the extended version of the theme song has been posted on EntertainmentWeekly. The song can be heard during the opening credits in the popular TV series and the vocalist for the song is Raya Yarbrough, who has also the vocalist of other songs for the TV series and has worked on popular projects like “The Walking Dead” and “Defiance.”
The album has been produced by Bear McCreary, who was also the music composer many of the episodes of the popular TV series. The new album is said to be containing original music and songs that are adapted from the time periods shown in the TV series. The songs reportedly focus on the second part of the first season of “Outlander.”
There are 15 songs in the new album and they are available for preorder at Apple’s iTunes and at Amazon. Apart from the main theme, “The Skye Boat Song,” the other songs in the album include “Fort William Rescue,” “The Summoning,” “The Key to Lallybroch,” “The Devil’s Mark,” “To Wentworth,” “Charge of the Highland Cattle” and “Setting Sail.”
The audio CD of the first album is currently available at Amazon. The songs in the album include “Dance of the Druids,” “Fallen Through Time,” “Castle Leoch,” “The Losing Side of History,” “The Marriage Contract,” “The Wedding” and “The Veil of Time.”
The TV series has been created by Ronald D. Moore and it’s an adaptation of the book series by Diana Gabaldon. Some of the cast members of the show include Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall), Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Tobias Menzies (Frank and Jack Randall), Graham McTavish (Dougal MacKenzie), Grant O’Rourke (Rupert MacKenzie), Stephen Walters (Angus Mhor) and Duncan Lacroix (Murtagh Fraser).
The cast and crew of “Outlander” are currently filming Season 2, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2016. Jamie and Claire will be seen in France in the next season and they will attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden, before it starts.
