'Outlander' Season 2 finale will be 'most heart-wrenching and emotionally grueling'; Caitriona Balfe preparing for Season 3
“Outlander” Season 2 finale episode will be the “most heart-wrenching and emotionally grueling,” Caitriona Balfe teased in an interview. Episode 13 of the show is titled “Dragonfly in Amber,” and it is expected to take Claire back to the future.
"Now that we've lived with these characters for so long, I feel I have a pretty strong grasp on Claire's inner emotional life," Balfe (Claire) told The Hollywood Reporter. The actress also teased that the finale episode of the current season is the “most heart-wrenching and emotionally grueling episode to date.”
Balfe is already preparing for Season 3 of the show and is confident that she will be able to slip into her character quickly when they begin filming. While waiting for the production to begin, Balfe has immersed herself in the world created by Diana Gabaldon by reading the next book in the series titled “Voyager.”
The actress said that the fans who have read the books already know what is going to happen. For her part, Balfe is excited about the reunion of Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan).
Talking about “Outlander” Season 2, Balfe said that the seventh episode titled “Faith” was the most challenging for her to film. The actress said that she is “quite proud” of what she did in that episode.
Balfe was not with her fellow cast members Heughan or Tobias Menzies (Jack Randall) in some of the more emotional scenes of the episode. The actress said that her fellow cast members bring things out of her in a scene, so doing important scenes alone was “terrifying.”
Balfe said that she put in everything for her scenes in “Outlander” Season 2 episode 7. She said that the end result was some “very powerful scenes.” The actress said that her main way of prepare for a difficult scene is to do lots and lots of research.
