'Outlander' Season 2 spoilers: Jamie is not as courageous as in the books; villain 'lot darker'
It is not easy being a first time parent and Jamie will find that out in “Outlander” Season 2. Although the books show the character as having a lot of courage about being a father, the TV series may be a little different, Sam Heughan teased in a recent interview.
Speaking with TV Line about the next season, Heughan said that the books by Diana Gabaldon may have portrayed Jamie to be “gung-ho” about being a father. However, in the TV series the character may be “absolutely freaking out” at the time of birth.
Claire (Caitriona Balfe) too will have a certain amount of fear about becoming a mother. Balfe said that her character doesn’t have a strong mother in her own life and this leads to some “trepidation” about being a mother herself and the pregnancy will be “an unnerving time for her.”
Despite Claire’s pregnancy, the producers did not shy away from filming some sex scenes for “Outlander” Season 2. Both Heughan and Balfe said that they fought for the sex scenes to be included in the show.
“Sam and I really fought for this love scene that included the bump,” Bafe said. “A lot of pregnant woman that I’ve spoken to are very sexy, very sexual and womanly when they’re pregnant, and men find them attractive,” she added.
Apart from the passionate love between Jamie and Claire, the next season will also introduce a new villain. The couple will become enemies with Le Comte St. Germain (Stanley Weber) early on and the villain will develop a strong hatred towards Claire.
Balfe said that the villain in “Outlander” Season 2 is a “lot darker” than what Claire and Jamie first assumed. Heughan said that the new villain was “charming” and at the same time “dangerous.” St. Germain is politically savvy and the Frasers will have to be mindful when they go about their mission in the next season.
