'Outlander' season 3 is 'amazing,' worth the wait; Producers manage frustrated fans

The producers of the popular Starz show had to do some fire dousing, after announcing the delay in the premiere of “Outlander” season 3. However, one reporter who has been to the sets and seen some part of the next instalment promises that it will be “amazing.”
Trouble began for the producers as soon as the September premiere of the show was announced by Starz. Co-executive Producer Matthew B Roberts was particularly under fire by the fans for a quote attributed to him, which promised a short Droughtlander this time around. Roberts had to clarify that he was misquoted.
Roberts admitted that there was a lot of disappointment among the fan base. The producer tried to explain how challenging it is to move the entire production from “the top of the world to the bottom.”
One of the fans suggested that they could have made preparations in advance to facilitate a smooth transition. Roberts explained that they had to wait for the production in Scotland to be completed before shifting to South Africa. Since most of the scenes in “Outlander” season 3 are centered on Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe), unlike the “Game of Thrones” show in which there are different storylines with multiple major characters, the producers of the Starz show had no choice but wait before shifting base.
Some of the fans are understandably frustrated with the delay in the release date, but managing them has been a daunting task for the producers too. Roberts exclaimed how Twitter can be “soul-crushing” sometimes, while at other times it can “fill your heart.”
Most of the fans, however, have been very understanding and supportive. Roberts thanked all the fans who voiced their support and promised them once again that they have the most hard working producers, staff and production team.
Co-executive Producer Maril Davis also had her share of interactions with the fans. She pointed out that just the filming of the show takes 10 months, and there is the post production phase to consider. She also explained that they can only make the show, and it is up to Starz to decide the premiere date.
Some of the fans also approached author Diana Gabaldon. Perhaps she understands fan frustration the best. She joked about making people wait four years for her book.
One news reporter who has visited the “Outlander” season 3, and seen a few bits is Leanne Aguilera. In a tweet she said that everything she has seen so far has been “amazing,” and it will be “well worth the wait” for the fans.
.@OutlanderTVNews As I said, I was misquoted. So... it wasn't technically my quote.

.@zeffb3k I'm sure there is universal disappointment But it takes a lot to move an entire production from the top of the world to the bottom

.@SusanJCornish @justmeesh @mandersonmsp84 @zeffb3k We had to finish filming in Scotland before the move to SA or we'd have no actors :-{)>

@mandersonmsp84 we don't control what come out &when. Only thing we control is production. & that takes roughly 10 months. Not including post
