'Outlander' season 3 ending not like ‘Titanic,’ more like Olympic swimming, says Sam Heughan

When Sam Heughan (Jamie) shared a picture of him with Caitriona Balfe (Claire) in a pool celebrating the wrap of “Outlander” season 3, fans got a hint about where the story will end this year. When a reporter asked if the ending was like the heart-breaking scenes in “Titanic,” Heughan teased it was more like the synchronised swimming in the Olympics.
The wrap party included beer and a Jacuzzi. What caught the attention of Graham McTavish (Dougal MacKenzie) was that they had built “a paddling pool inside a large tent.” Heughan isn’t allowed to reveal any details, so he invited his former colleague to watch the show to find out.
Heughan joked about McTavish not getting a pool on the set of the series “Preacher." The latter plays the role of a character called The Cowboy.
Reporter Kristin Dos Santos was concerned seeing the pool and wondered if the ending of “Outlander” season 3 will be similar to what happened in Titanic. “Think more Olympic synchronised swimming,” Heughan said.
“Sam and I have matching frilly hats...” Balfe added. It may be a reference to the Edwardian-style hat worn by Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater) in the film.
While the cast members partied on their last day in Cape Town, Balfe took the time to thank the crew members in South Africa and Scotland for working hard to ensure a smooth production. The cast and crew were also joined on set by producers and writers of the show. Co-executive Producer Maril Davis shared a picture of her last day in Cape Town, too. She is joined by writer/producer Karen Campbell in the picture (see below). Davis did not “party like it was 1999” on the last day, but joked about Balfe having too much of a good time with all that drinking.
Diana Gabaldon also complimented everyone involved in “Outlander” season 3 for doing a good job. “What a ride,” Heughan said, thanking the crew members in South Africa and Scotland, teasing that this is going to be the “best yet.”

In case you missed it:
Diana Gabaldon was asked by a fan about the highly anticipated Print Shop scene. The author said that she is happy with what they have filmed, and this comment started an interesting online conversation joined by both Sam Heughan (Jamie) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire).
