'Outlander' Season 3: Expect 'slight deviation' from the book in the beginning- Sam Heughan teases
There will be a “slight deviation” from the book at the beginning of “Outlander” Season 3, and that’s a good thing. In a recent interview, cast member Sam Heughan teased some details about what happens next on the popular Starz TV series.
[Spoiler alert]
In an interview with Popsugar, Heughan (Jamie Fraser) said that they always try and follow the books as much as possible. However, adapting a book for a TV series is challenging, the actor pointed out. A book is not in an episodic format, so there are bound to be changes.
Heughan said that there will be things that the fans will recognise from the book because the team has put in a lot of details from “Voyager.” But, at the same time the fans will experience some “incredible moments” that are deviations from the book.
There will be a “slight deviation” in the beginning of “Outlander” Season 3, Heughan revealed. The fans who have read “Voyager” and seen the first set of behind-the-scenes pictures know what the actor is talking about. While the book opened with the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden and Jamie not remembering anything, the TV series will show the actual action sequences.
Heughan said that it is important for the audience to see what happened in the battle, and added that this was a “reward” for the fans. The actor also teased some “big surprises” and revealed that there was a big moment from the book that none of the cast and crew knew they were going to film.
While there are deviations from “Voyager,” the fans will also enjoy “great moments from the book in “Outlander” Season 3, Heughan said. During the interview, the actor once again emphasised the point that they try their best to stick to the source material.
