'Outlander' Season 3: It’s not about 'looking older' says Sam Heughan about Jamie
Sam Heughan teased more details about “Outlander” Season 3 in a new interview. His character Jamie is expected to be shown as an older man this time around, but the actor explained that age will not be the main focus of his character.
[Spoiler alert]
Claire (Caitriona Balfe) was seen as an older woman in the previous season. This time around it is Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) turn, as she travels back in time to be reunited with the love of her life. However, 20 years have passed since the two went their separate ways just when the Battle of Culloden started, and the Highlander is an older man now.
In an interview with Elle, Heughan teased that it is not about the age of his character that is important. What will be more interesting for the viewers is to learn about the experiences Jamie has gone through over the years.
Jamie survives the Battle of Culloden, and “Outlander” Season 3 will show some of the scenes of the battle. Heughan said that he has been spending a lot of time in the makeup chair, because he is almost always covered in mud or blood.
The filming of the first two episodes is complete, the actor previously confirmed, and Heughan has filmed scenes of battle for the episodes. The very first behind the scenes video was from the battlefeild set.
The next season is based on Diana Gabaldon’s book “Voyager.” Heughan teased that the show feels “very strong, very exciting.” As Jamie and Claire will be spending some time apart before their reunion, the actor said that the show has a lot of “big emotional stuff.”
“Outlander” Season 3 is set to premiere sometime in 2017. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date. The main characters will be travelling to Jamica in their new adventure.
