The following article contains minor spoilers from the next season of the popular Starz TV show. Fans who do not wish to know anything about the plot should stop reading.
The next season will begin with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in Boston with her first husband Frank (Tobias Menzies), and the estranged couple tries to find a way to rebuild their lives. In an interview with TV Insider, Balfe explained how big a challenge that is because after her character has experienced love that is “so all-consuming” no one else can “live up” to her raised expectations now.
During the flash back in Boston, Claire believes that Jamie (Sam Heughan) is dead. She will try to rebuild her life with Frank. In order to deal with the pain of loss she feels, she will focus on her career in “Outlander” season 3. Her husband will not get the time he is supposed to, and this leads to some friction.
As Claire wants to focus more on her career than work on her relationship with Frank, there is resentment and disappointment. Balfe explains that the two characters are living in a “broken marriage.”
However, the two characters will not be seen to be miserable all the time. They have a daughter to care for together. Frank had previously decided to raise Jamie’s child as his own.
Meanwhile, the fans in the US can celebrate Valentine’s Day by watching the show on Starz. The episodes will air continuously on the channel from 11 a.m. The fans can watch the whole of the second season till late into the night.
