With most of the work for “Outlander” season 3 complete, producer and writer Anne Kenney is ready to say goodbye to the show and look for other exciting projects to work on. She will not be returning to the Starz TV series next year, promising to continue to be a fan and stay connected with the fandom.

Kenney announced on Twitter her last season for the Starz series, saying it has been an “amazing” experience. She has been a part of the show from the beginning,

The first episode of the show, titled “Sassenach,” had Kenney as one of the producers. She continued to play the role for both seasons that aired. As a writer, Kenney worked on the scripts of season one's “The Way Out,” “The Wedding” and “Lallybroch," and in the second season, she worked on scripts for “The Fox’s Lair” and “The Hail Mary.”

For “Outlander” season 3, Kenny revealed that she wrote the second episode. The title and the plot are yet to be revealed.

Kenney got a lot of best wishes from the fandom, and she said she was “blown away” by these messages. She said that the fans of the show were the “best people.”

Responding to the announcement, author Diana Gabaldon said she and the others on the show will miss the producer/writer. Kenney promised to keep in touch.

“Yes it was a pleasure working with You Anne! Hope to work with you again!” production designer Jon Gary Steele tweeted. Kenney reciprocated the sentiment, and in another tweet confirmed that there is good chance she will get to work her former colleagues again.

Kenney doesn’t have concrete plans for her next adventure yet, but she promised to keep the fandom informed about her projects. The fans, on the other hand, promised to continue supporting her.

In the meantime, Kenney promised to share “little catnip” when “Outlander” season 3 airs. For season 4, she confirmed that the writers’ room is full of “mostly women.” In 2018, the producer/writer will have endure Droughtlander just like the others and watch the show as a fan.
