John Grey (Oscar Kennedy) is the 16 year old British soldier who went by the name William in the second season of the TV series. He was the boy that the Frasers tricked into revealing sensitive information about his army, with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) pretending to be a prisoner of the Highlanders.

In the next season, John Grey will appear as the Governor of Ardsmuir Prison, according to the books written by Diana Gabaldon. He will meet with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) there, and the two will form an unexpected and shaky friendship. The character gains significance as the story progresses and is expected to be a recurring character starting with “Outlander” Season 3.

A notable aspect in the next season is an aged Jamie. In a previous interview with ET Online, Co-executive Producer Maril Davis pointed out that the Scottish warrior is younger than Claire. The writers and producers were discussing how they wanted to approach the look of the character, but Davis teased that the viewers should expect something similar to what they did with Claire, in terms of her looking older. The producer said that most part of this aspect will be shown through acting.

“Outlander” Season 3 will be an adaptation of the novel “Voyager.” Davis teased that it will begin with Claire debating about whether she should go back in time and reunite with Jamie, and leave her daughter behind. The main characters will travel to Jamaica in the next season, and a lot of the story will take place on ships.
