'Outlander' season 3: Sam Heughan teases river scene and more in Q&A
Celebrating his fourth year anniversary for being cast as Jamie, Sam Heughan answered fans questions online. Some of the questions were about “Outlander” season 3, and the actor teased a river scene from the books while answering a question.
Fans of Diana Gabaldon’s books will know about the scene in which Jamie hides in a river at some point. One of the fans wanted to know how the filming of this particular scene went for Heughan. The actor recalled how cold the water was.
Perhaps the two major scenes on the show this year that the fans are most eagerly waiting to see are the Print Shop and the Turtle soup scenes. When a fan asked Heughan to pick his favourite among the two, he simply asked the fan to “wait and see.”
There were many challenges that Heughan had to face while filming for the upcoming season. One of the challenges was to act the sea sickness scenes. The giant ship on the set in South Africa was placed on a gimbal to give the rocking effect of waves. While there were a few on the set who felt nauseated on this ship, Heughan said that he wasn’t affected. However, pretending to be sea sick for multiple takes does trigger a more natural reaction, the actor confirmed.
When asked to describe his character on the show this year, Heughan said that he was anything but Jamie. The comment hints at the state of mind of the character during the time he believes that Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is dead.
While filming in South Africa, Heughan did not get to see much of the country, though he would have liked to. The cast and crew had to leave soon after they wrapped production there, but the actor did manage to see some zebras and a springbok that wandered onto their set.
With filming wrapped, Heughan can consider his other action options. One of the fans wondered if he’d be willing to join “Game of Thrones.” The actor wanted to know if they would film in Scotland before committing to it. “The Bachelorette” is the reality show he would join if he could.
Heughan also revealed that “Outlander” season 4 is scheduled to begin production this Fall. In the mean time the fans in the US get to see a panel from the show at the San Diego Comic Con.
