'Outlander' season 3: Scouting for locations can be dangerous; 'Sweaty' months ahead for Sam Heughan
Locations scouting for “Outlander” season 3 in South Africa can be dangerous. Co-executive Producer/Writer Matthew B. Roberts shared a picture of a cobra that someone almost stepped on while they were looking for a good place to shoot future scenes. Meanwhile, Sam Heughan continues to work out to stay in shape for the show.
After two seasons spent filming in Scotland, the scouting team is familiar with the locations in the country. Cities like Prague and South England also may not have been much of a challenge, but South Africa is a whole new ball game.
While scouting for a location to shoot in Cape Town, the team ran into a cobra. One of the team members apparently almost stepped on the reptile, Roberts revealed. Nobody appears to have been bitten, but the producer pointed out that there is no denying they are actually taking risks in order to give the fans a better show with some great scenery.
Roberts is also writing some of the scripts for “Outlander” season 3. Apart from the intense dramatic scenes and romance, the writer also has a witty sense of humour that can be a part of the show. Writer Diana Gabaldon, whose books the TV series is based on, was out boating near Newport Beach, California. But she first teased her fans by posting a picture and asked everyone to guess where she was. To Roberts, it looked like she was in the opening scene of “Jaws” movie, in which a killer shark attacks people.
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) shared a picture of him working out at a gym. He was training at the Roark Gyms in Cape Town and said that he always wanted to train there. He thanked the gym team for keeping him working hard. The actor teased that it is going to be fun but “sweaty” few months for him there.
Filming for the Starz show is set to wrap by June. The filming in Scotland has already been completed. Since the show has already been renewed by Starz for the next season, the producers are already thinking about season 4 and planning ahead. There won’t be a big break for the team this year, and the production will soon start for the next season.
In the meantime, fans are having a difficult time waiting for the premiere of “Outlander” season 3. When one of the fans had a comment about the long wait, Heughan came back with a witty remark [See below].
