While there’s a lot of romance in store for Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Clair (Caitriona Balfe) in “Outlander” season 4, there will be plenty of issues for Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin). Executive producer and showrunner Ronald D. Moore teased details about the plot of the next season.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Moore teased some trouble in the relationship between Roger and Bree right from the start of next season. Readers should note that Brianna lost her parents Frank (Tobias Menzies) and Claire within a span of one year, so this may be a particularly difficult time for her. The only person to vent her anger on is Roger.

Moore pointed out that this is just the beginning. The two still aren't sure where their relationship is going, and whether it is actually going anywhere. In such a peculiar situation, they will go through a lot of “turmoil,” and they will have to deal with the “shock” that comes as well.

Moore described the couple's storyline as “fairly heavy” and “tumultuous.” Will the challenges bring them closer together?

The plot this time around will be based on the book “Drums of Autumn” by Diana Gabaldon. Fans who have read the book will know that there are some particularly troubling times ahead for Brianna. It will be interesting to see how the writers manage to pull off these heavy scenes this year.

Filming of “Outlander” season 4 continues in Scotland. The show is set to air sometime later this year, and an exact release date has yet to be announced.
