'Outlander' star Caitriona Balfe nominated for IFTA award again; cast members play 'two truths and a lie'
“Outlander” star Caitriona Balfe has once again been nominated for the Irish Film and Television Awards in the Actress in a lead role in a drama series category. Balfe and her fellow cast member Sam Heughan are currently busy promoting Season 2 of the TV series and have begun the press tour.
Balfe will be going up against Ruth Bradley for “Rebellion,” Elaine Cassidy for “No Offence,” Sarah Greene for “Rebellion” and Catherine Walker for “Critical.” This is Balfe’s second nomination for the award and she was nominated for it last year.
The drama series “Rebellion” has the lead in the sheer number of nominations. The TV series has six nominations in different categories. “An Klondike” also has done well with four nominations, including the nomination for the best drama series.
Balfe and Heughan have gained a lot of attention for their performance in the first season of the TV series and they are set to dazzle the fans again this year. “Outlander” Season 2 takes Claire (Balfe) and Jamie (Heughan) to Paris. New costumes and sets were created for the show and they highlight the opulence of France during the 1700s.
The two cast members have started giving interviews to promote the next season. In a video posted on Entertainment Tonight’s Facebook page, Balfe and Heughan can be seen playing the game “two truths and a lie.” The rules are that one person tells two truthful statements and a lie and the other person has to guess which one is a lie.
Balfe started off by saying that she did a film in German, acted alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and also worked with an actor who played James Bond. Heughan was unable to figure out which one of the above was a lie. Heughan was asked about his guilty pleasures and Balfe was able to catch his lie.
The two actors are set to return as Jamie and Claire in “Outlander” Season 2, which airs on April 9. The next season will have 13 episodes and the script of one of the episodes has been written by Diana Gabaldon.
