Mexican Boxing Legend Juan Manuel Marquez could earn the fattest paycheck of his career. This will happen if he decides to duke it out with rival pugilist Manny Pacquiao for the fifth time in their Hall of Fame careers.

Marquez, who is set to take on Mike Alvarado in a WBO Welterweight Championship eliminator match on May 17, could be on a collision with Pacquiao again. This time, the prize at stake is more attractive than the previous fight.

Not only Marquez will have a chance to become the first Mexican to win five-division world champion, but the "Dinamita" could pocket in around $13 to $15 million in guaranteed fight purse, which is the highest prize he would receive since turning professional.

According to Chris Williams of Boxing News 24, it's about time the 40-year-old Marquez gets more money because of his huge Mexican fanbase. From the four fights Marquez and Pacquiao had an encounter, the Mexican crowd comprised majority of the gate attendance which also had a significant percentage in the pay-per-views.

"Marquez made a guaranteed $5 million for his last fight against Pacquiao last December (2012), whereas Pacquiao got a guaranteed $25 million. If we're still talking about a purse of $30 million for this fight in guaranteed money, then $15 million doesn't sound so bad for Marquez as well as he's able to pull in more with the PPV upside," Williams said.

There's no doubt Marquez's career highlight is his sixth-round KO win over Pacquiao. Despite his advanced age, the Mexican managed to be competitive against one of the best fighters in the welterweight division in Timothy Bradley, and may have a great shot at beating Alvarado in their upcoming fight.

Top-Rank Promoter Bob Arum repeatedly stressed it's always a blockbuster fight every time Marquez and Pacquiao meet in the ring. But Pacquiao always gets the big money, while Marquez settles with a much lesser fight purse. There should be a change in that area to make this fight happen.

In what could be the final chapter of the Marquez vs. Pacquiao rivalry, a fair sharing of the pie should be observed. For all the legendary things Marquez contributed for boxing, it's indeed the right time the Mexican gets what is due to him.
