Pacquiao Says Mayweather’s Wealth Doesn’t Flatter Him, Calls Out On Undefeated Fighter In A New Instagram Post: ‘Sign The Contract’
Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been really typically hushed on the alleged super fight between him and Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao on social media. Lately, Mayweather only took a jab at Pacquiao following the Filipino's victory in his recent Macau fight in November with a sarcastic remark about Pacquiao's knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez. It is Pacquiao who continues to be unexpectedly aggressive on social media.
Even though Mayweather has previously challenged Pacquiao for a May 2 fight, the undefeated American fighter seemed too busy to think about the super fight. Mayweather is busy bragging about his riches on social media. He recently posted a picture of his Christian Louboutin shoe collection and even asked his followers to help him choose from his luxurious 80-pair shoe set. He also shared a picture of his collection of sunglasses.
On Jan. 5, Mayweather shared a picture bragging his private jet and fleet of luxurious cars such as Bugatti Veyron, Bugatti Gran Sport, Ferrari 458 Spider, Lamborghini Aventador, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. A Bugatti Veyron costs over $2 million. Although extremely pricey, Mayweather certainly has no trouble paying for them. In 2014, Mayweather has topped Forbes' List of Richest Athletes with total earnings of as much as $105 million.
However, the the eight-division Filipino world champion is not impressed at all with Mayweather's wealth and instead, called out Mayweather again in his latest Instagram post. "Floyd brags about his lifestyle and everything, I don't care," Pacquiao wrote on Instagram. "I'm just waiting here for him to sign the contract, #fightpacquiao."
In an interview with Philippine news outlet ABS-CBN Sports, Pacquiao has said that he is willing to fight Mayweather in his proposed May 2 date. He added that he is more than amenable to any fight date that Mayweather will set for the proposed super fight.
Pacquiao keeps his hopes high that the fight will really come to fruition. Since the fight came about five years ago, it has just been a one-way traffic, but Pacquiao has revealed that Mayweather and his camp are now willing to sit down and negotiate with him.
As the negotiations for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight continues, the Filipino will take on other responsibilities in the mean time. He is slated to fly to the U.S. next week to promote his documentary film "Manny." Pacquiao is also set to appear as one of the judges for the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant, which will be held in Miami, on Jan. 25.
