Attempted murder charges slapped against 9-month-old Mohammad Musa have been dismissed by a judge in Pakistan over the weekend after the police said they are no longer pursing the charges.

"The father of toddler produced him before the judge today," defense lawyer Irfan Tarar said. The boy arrived in the courtroom in the arms of his father. "When police submitted a report, they said they have dropped the charge against the boy."

At this point, Judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar verbally blasted the police in his court. He angrily demanded a written explanation the case was not properly investigated and how come an 9-month-old boy figured in their complaint, Mr Tarar said.

Pakistan's legal system figured in an international ridicule after young Mohammad Musa became the focus of international attention. Along with four adults, the young Pakistani boy, who has yet to give up sucking from the milk bottle, was slapped with attempted murder charges following a violent protest in Lahore in February.

Despite his age and the family's assertion that he wasn't even a year old, Pakistani police went to the family home multiple times trying to arrest the infant.

Appearing in court on April 9, young Mohammad Musa was photographed crying while being fingerprinted. He was given a bottle of milk to be comforted from the situation.

His family subsequently moved him out of Lahore to Faisalabad for safety reasons.

Young Mohammad Musa may now be scot free, but the cases against his family members continue to proceed.
