Paramore Confirms 2 New Zealand Shows In January

Paramore is coming to New Zealand. The American rock band will be in the country for two nights as part of their “self-titled” world tour in January.

Lead vocalist Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis, and guitarist Taylor York will be playing at the Vector Arena in Auckland on January 19, and at the CBS Arena in Christchurch on January 21.

“We’re so excited to finally come back to New Zealand! No lie, it’s one of our favourite places in the entire world. Can’t wait to see all of our P-more family at the shows and just party,” Hayley was quoted by Voxy.

But before going to NZ, the trio will first perform in Australia. They will be at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane on January 9, at the ALlphones Arena in Sydney on January 11, at the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on the 12th, at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on the 14th, and at the Perth Arena on the 16.

Pre-sale tickets for the New Zealand shows will go on sale on September 3 from 9am local time, while tickets for the Australian shows are already available.

Meanwhile, Hayley has weighed in on the controversy that is Miley Cyrus. The 24-year-old rocker was aghast at the former Disney star’s performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, but not because of the usual reasons. While a lot of people have criticised Miley for her raunchy and inappropriate twerking dance moves, Hayley was offended by the racial aspect of Miley’s act.

“It seems like more people are focusing on the trashiness or the dancing, the clothes. But I actually am uncomfortable with the racial aspect of it. I feel like she’s sort of taking a culture that isn’t really hers and sort of using it as an accessory, and that actually bothers me more,” Hayley was quoted by contactmusic.com as saying.

“I feel like maybe someone needs to go to her and sort of explain the race issue.”

She continued, “I’m not going to be the artist that goes around throwing accusations that other artists are racist. I’m not gonna go there. I do think it’s a little insensitive, and it definitely seems as though there were black women onstage with her that... kinda felt like accessories more than anything else. I felt uncomfortable about that.”
