Paranormal Activity 2 tops box office for the weekend
Paranormal Activity 2 easily took first place at the box office, with rave reviews from critics. The sequel to the 2007 thriller brought in $43.5 million. According to Deadline, it is now the biggest opening for a horror movie.
Peter Travers of Rolling Stone said: "[If] you're looking for wicked fun this Halloween, Paranormal Activity 2 is the best goosebump game in town"
Jackass 3D is on second place with $21.5 million for the weekend and a gross of $87 million. Third place was Bruce Willis' latest film RED, with $15.2 million. Hollywood top hunk Matt Damon's Hereafter was fourth with $12 million, debuting last Friday.
The Social Network (The Facebook movie) is on fifth place witj $7.2 million take for a gross total of just under $73 million.
Interestingly, last week Cinemark, a theater company in Texas pulled Paranormal Actovity 2 trailer when movie goers complained about it being too scary.
Paramount representative said: "I actually went to a couple theaters last night, and a ton of girls jumped out of their seats and screamed." But apparently, moviegoers still braved the theaters to watch the full length feature, making it this week's top grosser.
