Parents be Warned! Baby Monitors can be Hacked by Sexual Predators [VIDEO]
A couple from Houston, Texas, wants to warn parents in all parts of the globe that baby monitors can be hacked by sexual predators lurking near their homes. This warning was based on their very own experience of a perverted hacker who trolled their 2-year-old baby through the baby monitor.
"Wake up you little slut," said a strange voice as Marc Gilbert and wife Lauren made their way to their child's room. They also heard the strange voice calling their daughter, Allyson, an "effing moron."
The frightening incident happened while Mr Gilbert was washing dishes after a celebration. He heard a stranger's voice coming from her room and right then and there he knew that something odd was happening.
According to a report from ABC News, the hacker cursed at Mr and Mrs Gilbert as they worriedly enter their daughter's room. The voice sounded British or European. The baby monitor that the couple used came equipped with a camera which was hacked by the troll and made it possible for him to see what was happening in the room.
The hacker called Mr Gilbert a stupid moron while Mrs Gilbert a bitch.
"At that point I ran over and disconnected it and tried to figure out what happened. [I] Couldn't see the guy. All you could do was hear his voice and [that] he was controlling the camera," said Mr Gilbert.
Thankfully, their daughter was deaf and their son Ethan was so deep in his sleep that the two children were spared from hearing the lewd comments from the hacker.
Mr Gilbert said that their daughter's hearing impairment became a blessing for this particularly frightening incident.
"It's somewhat of a blessing. If she had heard it it would have been a big problem."
The couple then wondered if there were previous incidents which they were unaware of.
"It's quite possible that this had been going on more than one day. Security vulnerabilities exist."
The couple's internet provider advised them to change their baby monitor's passwords but the couple decided not to activate the device anymore.
"I don't think it ever will be connected again. I think we are going to go without the baby monitor now," Mr. Gilbert said.
The couple agreed for an interview so as to warn all other parents to be extra careful when using baby monitors.
