Paris Hilton was detained for a short period in Corsica when sniffer dogs discovered a "quite small" amount of marijuana in her bag, a French newspaper reported.

According to the Corse Matin newspaper, authorities at the airport in Figari found about one gram of marijuana. The report said Hilton, who was passing over the French Mediterranean island in a private jet on Friday, was pulled for questioning but was released 30 minutes after.

The newspaper's website said that Hilton was travelling along with "personalities close to power in Malaysia" from the French capital to Porto-Cerno in Sardinia.

However, Hilton has slammed the reports in Saturday through the TwitLonger site, writing: "Just to put an end to these rumours. The stories saying I have been arrested are completely false!

"I am having the best vacation of my life."

Earlier this month, the American socialite was apprehended after the Brazil-Netherlands World Cup match in Port Elizabeth, South Africa for suspected possession of marijuana. The case was later dismissed at a midnight court hearing.
