Paris Hilton’s beau a no-show in court; gets Vegas court date
Cy Waits, a former nightclub tycoon and Paris Hilton's beau gets a date at Las Vegas court, facing three criminal charges
The current boyfriend of socialite and reality TV star Paris Hilton, Cy Waits has been ordered by a Las Vegas court to appear for a proceeding over the criminal charges hurled against him by the authorities.
The 35-year old former nightclub tycoon is facing three criminal charges following a criminal complaint filed by Las Vegas prosecutors. These include felony under the influence of a controlled substance-marijuana and two misdemeanors- - possession of marijuana and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Unable to appear in court, the Associated Press said that his counsel, Richard Schonfeld told the judge that he plans to challenge the ‘constitutionality of Paris’s boyfriend’s felony charge of being under the influence of marijuana.
The charges were filed when Waits and Hilton were pulled over by Vegas police for traffic violation outside the Wynn Hotel and Casino in August last year. But what was supposed to be a minor traffic violation turned into uglier criminal charges when the police stated in their report that they could smell marijuana from inside the car when they were told to alight their vehicle.
The report described Waits with strong alcohol on his breath and with bloodshot eyes. He also failed miserably in the DUI test as he was seen trembling in the whole process. When found guilty, Waits could be spending four years in prison.
