'Parks And Recreation's' Amy Poehler Talks Pain And Hurt After Divorce With Will Arnett
Comedienne Amy Poehler proves that not everything in her life is rosy and funny. She may be all smiles and jokes, but she does not think divorce is a laughing matter. In her tell-all memoir, "Yes, Please," the comedienne and "Saturday Night Live" alumni, 43, details how hurt she was over her divorce.
In her new book, Amy shares that the separation is too sad and too personal to retell in great detail. However, she shares that divorce is not an easy phase to go through, especially how society makes her feels so alone instead of supported.
"When you are a person going through a divorce you feel incredibly alone, yet you are constantly reminded by society of how frequently divorce happens and how common it has become. You aren't allowed to feel special, but no one knows the specific ways you are in pain," an excerpt from her book reads.
"Imagine spreading everything you care about on a blanket and then tossing the whole thing up in the air," the "Parks And Recreation" actress adds in her topic of divorce. "The process of divorce is about loading up that blanket, throwing it up, watching it all spin, and worrying what stuff will break when it lands."
Despite not sharing the details of her divorce, her words are enough to convey to the readers how hard and difficult the divorce was for her. Still, she shared that she does not regret her marriage to "Arrested Development" actor Will Arnett, 44. Ten years of marriage may have gone bust in September 2012, but she said she cannot deny Will was, and still is, a good father to their children, Archie, 6, and Abel, 4.
On the other hand, her ex-husband Will Arnett managed to burn his hurt and pain over the divorce quickly by working out. He told Details magazine that working out crazily helped him cope. Moreover, he's ready to date again. He even jokingly said if he could make an announcement that he's ready to mingle.
