Ron Burgundy isn’t available, so his colleague Brian Fantana is filling in for him. Paul Rudd sits in for Will Ferrell in the new special edition of Ron Burgundy’s Guide to the World, New Zealand edition, informing viewers that New Zealand is not Australia.

Ferrell has been tirelessly promoting his upcoming film “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” a sequel to the 2004 hit “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.” Staying in character as Burgundy, an egotistical anchorman in the ‘70s, Ferrell has appeared in campaign videos and even anchored a real, live news program in the U.S. to promote the film.

But for this one time, Burgundy appeared to be unavailable so Fantana (Rudd) had to deliver the news in the three-minute clip released by Paramount Pictures.

In the Ron Burgundy’s Guide to the World, New Zealand edition, Fantana informs viewers the differences between NZ and its neighbouring country, Australia.

The hilarious clip opened with the field reporter in the newsroom, telling viewers “everything you need to know about New Zealand.” After erroneously saying that “Junior” Tolkien’s the “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” films are set in the country, he was told that the films were filmed, not set, in NZ. He proceeded to watch a marathon of the films, returning to the desk 15 hours later.

“Speaking of Australia, New Zealanders pride themselves on not being Australians,” he later said (Grammy Award organisers, take note!).

He provided proofs of their differences, giving the “flightless, compassionate bird,” the kiwi, as an example, all the while holding a picture of the kiwi fruit. In comparison, he held a plastic four-legged animal he called a kangaroo, calling it a “cold-blooded killer with a vengeful spirit” from Australia.

“It’s definitely not Australia,” Fantana said of New Zealand at the end of the video.

“Seriously, do not call them Australians. They hate that. I did it once, and I am, to date, not welcome back.”

“Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” will be hitting the theatres in New Zealand on December 19.
