Paul Walker Fans Want Street Name Changed after Him, California Residents Disapprove of Such Tribute

Fans of the late Hollywood actor Paul Walker have proposed that the name of the street that the "Fast and the Furious" star and his friend died on be named after them in an Internet petition posted on GoPetition.com Web site.

The name of the avenue where Walker and Rodas died is Hercules Avenue situated in Santa Clarita, California, and fans want it changed to "Walker/Rodas Memorial Way."

"With an international outpouring of love and support - this might be a nice way for people to continue remembering two amazing men, who died so tragically," reads an Internet petition that was posted by a certain "Trent" on Dec. 08.

However, TMZ reported that the residents of Santa Clarita are seemingly not in favour of such tribute claiming that Walker never really did anything for the neighborhood. According to the popular gossip Web site, the Internet petition was already able to sign nearly 2,000 signatures and still counting.

Timben Boydston, city Councilman of Santa Clarita, told TMZ that the street name can only be changed if the people of the neighborhood approve it. Well, the petition seems like an interesting idea, maybe it could remind the drivers of the perils on the road, but is virtually not viable, given the fact that the community doesn't give consent to it.

If fans want to do something in Walker's honour, they could perhaps donate to his charity. He was really a nice guy by all accounts, and he just happened to be in a terrible tragedy that no one ever wanted to happen. Sometimes people tend to go over the top and react excessively. Walker was in the wrong car, at the wrong place and at the wrong time. There is really nothing more to it. Walker probably wouldn't want to change the street name after him.
