Paul Wesley: 'Vampire Diaries' Actor Attend Humane Society Gala with Girlfriend Phoebe Tonkin of 'The Originals'
The Humane Society of the United States, the largest and most effective organization on animal protection, made actor Paul Wesley the Humane Generation honoree at their 60th Anniversary Gala. In Beverly Hills, California, the "Vampire Diaries" actor arrived at the event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel last Saturday evening, March 29, with his girlfriend, "The Originals" actress Phoebe Tonkin.
The Fashion & Style report praised the lovely couple's look who walked the red carpet separately and did not pose together for photographers at the event. Paul Wesley, 31, looked dapper in his black and white crisp suit while Aussie actress Phoebe Tonkin, 24, stunned with her colourful Chanel dress and strappy heels.
Paul and Phoebe shared images on their Instagrams for the TVD and "The Original" fans to see their participation in the Humane Society Gala. However, the couple was still not pictured together in the images shared.
"Backstage at HSUS with ms Yvonne Bennett," Paul Wesley wrote as a caption to the image he shared on his Instagram account paulvedere. Click HERE to see photo.
As for Phoebe, she thanked Chanel for the colourful dress that she wore at the event. "Thanks for dressing me last night @CHANEL @ilona_hamer @tanya_curtis @storyofmailife and fairy helper @thebabyghost," the Aussie actress caption the image on her Instagram account phoebejtonkin. In the Variety report, Paul Wesley acknowledged that being a part of the hit CW TV series "The Vampire Diaries" is one of the main reasons why he became the Humane Generation honoree and the credit goes to his "massive youth following." The TVD star further revealed that social media has also helped him in spreading the word on the horrors of factory farming with his millions of fans.
"I think it's really important for me to say with confidence that, based on the interactions that I've had with 'Vampire Diaries' fans all over the world, young people today are comprised of an incredible morally grounded generation," Mr Wesley shared.
The actor further noted that the youth wants to do the right thing once they are presented with logic and the facts. "So ultimately I think this Humane Generation Award is representative of the younger generation that want to and will take the right steps to create a positive change for the future," the actor added.
Other celebrity guests present at the gala included Colbie Caillat, Kesha, Billie Dee Williams with his "Dancing with the Stars" partner Emma Slater, Kate Mara, Victoria Summer, "Scandal" actor George Newbern, Oculus' Katee Sackhoff and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" actress Isabel Lucas. The guests dined on gourmet vegan cuisine at the gala and took part in the live auction that raised funds in order to support the "Pets for Life" program and the organization's mission of protecting animal rights. The gala proceeds went to the HSUS' Companion Animals and Farm Animal Protection campaigns.
