"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 premiere episode titled "I'll Remember" showed a different Stefan Salvatore. Actor Paul Wesley talked about his on-screen character in the brand new season during an interview as well as Stefan's future with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and the other projects that keep the TVD actor busy aside from the CW TV series.

In a Vulture interview, Paul Wesley admitted that his character, Stefan Salvatore, really needs a break after losing his brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), and failing to find a lead that could bring Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) back. The 32-year-old actor explained Stefan always comes to the rescue in the past five seasons every time things end up imploding with Damon.

Paul Wesley shared that Julie Plec initially told him that Stefan Salvatore spent his summer searching for Damon. The actor revealed that he asked the executive producer if they can try a different approach where Stefan bails and Damon will be the one to deal with his dilemma.

"Julie really liked that idea. It's not forever, but it's his reaction to things. It changes the game," Wesley shared. The actor teased that Stefan will eventually find and help Damon but he currently likes the "flawed Stefan" who is not particularly heroic.

When asked about the Stefan-Elena-Damon love triangle in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, Paul Wesley feels that the story is not a love triangle anymore. The TVD star explained that the Stefan-Elena or "Stelena" relationship is so platonic at the moment.

"Elena and Stefan are so platonic at this point that I just don't really see that ever happening again. And I hate to say it for those Stelena fans," Wesley stated. However, the actor admitted that things for the TVD characters are unpredictable because he does not know what Julie Plec has up on her sleeve. "You never know on this show," the actor teased.

As for Stefan's romantic life in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, Paul Wesley confessed that he is all in with the Stefan-Caroline or "Steroline" relationship. The actor thinks chemistry and an undeniable connection exists between Stefan and Caroline (Candice Accola) but it will take a while for Stefan to be ready for a new romantic relationship.

In addition to his work load on the CW TV series, Paul Wesley also has two indie films coming up titled "Before I Disappear" and "Amira & Sam." According to a Just Jared report, the TVD star attended the 2014 Hamptons International Film Festival held in East Hampton, New York City last Sunday, Oct. 12, to screen his new film "Amira & Sam."

Fans can catch Paul Wesley as vampire Stefan Salvatore in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 which airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
