PAX Australia 2017: When, where and how much
The PAX Australia 2017 announcement is something Australian gamers have been waiting for. Furthermore, many rejoice as it does not take place during the Melbourne Cup weekend, which will be held on Nov. 7. This year’s PAX event will be held a weekend before that from Oct. 27 until Oct. 29.
The event will be held for three days at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in Melbourne, Victoria. According to Kotaku, this is a good thing as it would be the fourth consecutive time it will be held there. This year marks the fifth year of the event in Australia.
According to the official Facebook page for PAX Aus 2017, the tickets will go on sale on March 14. The early bird tickets will save gamers who attend the event $5 on the full ticket price. On the other hand, regular priced tickets will be $65 for a day ticket and $165 for a three-day pass. Attendees may also bring their own computer. However, those who will bring their own will need to purchase a BYOC pass for an additional $45.
As of the time of writing, there are about 1,500 participants looking to join in this gaming expo, according to the Facebook event. The Australian leg of the international expo will pull together a wide variety of indie games, AAA titles, tabletop gaming, panels and cosplay. If there are first timers to go the PAX Aus 2017, more information is available on their webpage about how the event will be set up.
PAX, or originally known as Penny Arcade Expo, is a gaming festival. It is held in Seattle, Boston, Melbourne and San Antonio. The gaming expo was created by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the authors of the Penny Arcade webcomic. This is due to the fact that they wanted to attend a show exclusively for gaming.
"Australia's gaming community has given PAX such an incredible home here," said Jerry Holkins, co-founder of PAX and Penny Arcade, in the press release. "This year will see the fifth PAX Aus erupt in Melbourne, and there's every indication it will be the best one yet."
Although PAX Aus 2017 is still 252 days away, there is already a countdown available on their website. According to their press release, the flights and accommodation for the event should be cheaper as it is before the Melbourne Cup. Furthermore, it is suggested for those who want to attend to follow their social media sites for more information.
