After six scintillating games, the San Mig Coffee Mixers and the Petron Blaze Boosters will duke it out for all the marbles in Game 7 of the Governors Cup Final on Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

San Mig Coffee had a chance to wrap the series up on Wednesday, but failed to finish off the resilient Blaze Boosters in another tight battle down the stretch. The question now is whether or not a 99-88 loss to Petron in Game 6 would haunt them in the winners-take-all match.

"We wanted to avoid a winner-take-all because too many things can happen in that situation," San Mig head coach Tim Cone told the Philippine Inquirer after their Game 6 loss. "We certainly had our chances tonight. But beating Petron three games in a row is a huge mountain to climb."

Giving All They've Got

In a very much unpredictable series, Game 7 of San Mig vs. Petron is expected to feature exchange of leads and numerous deadlocks. Throughout their championship duel, both teams tasted blowout wins and grinded out hard-earned victories to come to this point. Then again, at the end, only the team with a fighting heart will ultimately win the championship.

"As I've said before, we cannot play this team without all cylinders firing," Cone talked about his team's resiliency. "We have to be very precise in our execution in both sides of the floor."

Foreign & Local War

Marqus Blakely has been an all-around force for the Coffee Mixers throughout the entire series, but Elijiah Millsap has also put up immense numbers as well for Petron.

In Game 6, Blakely finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds over 43 minutes while Millsap recorded 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists over 39 minutes of action.

While the imports are likely to provide immense numbers in Game 7, rivaling locals June Mar Fajardo of Petron and James Yap of San Mig are expected to give additional firepower for their respective team.

Fajardo, the runner-up for Rookie of the Year, has been an intimidating force on both ends as he continued to rack double-double games with ease. On the other hand, Yap has been a weapon for San Mig at crunch time and his team will once lean on him to perform late in the game.
