The PBA Governors Cup will wrap up the elimination round on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena with Ginebra, Talk N'' Text, Alaska and Air 21 all looking for a crucial win in an attempt to extend their stay in the final conference of Asia's first and premier pay-for-play league.

Despite already booking a spot in the quarterfinal round, head coach Luigi Trillo and his Alaska Aces expressed their intention to win their final elimination round game against Air 21 to secure at least a twice-to-beat incentive heading into the playoffs. A win over Air 21 will put them in a three way tie with Rain or Shine and Meralco Bolts with a 5-4 slate.

Meanwhile, Air 21 is still not ruling out their chances of making it into the playoff rounds despite facing daunting odds on Sunday. For the Express to make it past the elimination stages of the Gov's Cup, they need to come up with a win against Alaska and hope that Talk N'' Text would emerge triumphant over Ginebra by at least 22 points.

Air 21 will be leaning on veteran Asi Taulava and Joseph Yeo to backstop their team against a solid defensive team like Alaska, which features Sonny Thoss and rookie of the year and MVP candidate Calvin Abueva.

In an unexpected turn of events, Ginebra found their selves fighting for their lives in the final day of the elimination round. A week ago, Ginebra gained a crucial yet controversial win over Rain or Shine courtesy of Mac Baracael's three free-throws. However, Ginebra dropped their next game against Global Port, which clinched their first ever trip in the quarterfinals.

Now, Ginebra needs to win over Talk N'' Text to avoid all sorts of complications in the standings. However, a loss to the Texters could lead to a playoff for the eighth quarterfinal spot or the application of the quotient system, if Air 21 wins over Alaska.

"We have a hard road ahead, but we will just focus on what's in front of us which is the game tomorrow (Sunday)," said Talk n Text coach Norman Black told Philippine Inquirer "We will worry about what's next if and when we get there."
