Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and San Mig Coffee, previously known as Purefoods, look to rekindle their heated rivalry as they battle for playoff positioning in a short but action-packed elimination round of the PBA Governors Cup.

Manila Clasico is upon us my fellow basketball nutty and there's no better way to celebrate Philippine basketball at its finest than to watch these two popular ball clubs go head-to-head on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.

With all the championships and brutal games they contested, there's no love lost between Ginebra and San Miguel, who are both coming off from a victory.

Ginebra booked their second win in the conference after dispatching Air 21 106-93 on Wednesday while San Mig Coffee returned to the winning column with a 102-88 win in a fight-marred game against Global Port Batang Pierre.

Commissioner Chito Salud gave harsh punishments to the 'main stars' of the fracas as both San Mig's stalwart Marc Pingris and Global Port's Ryan Nabong receives two-game suspension. San Mig's Joe Devance will also be missing Sunday's showdown with Barangay Ginebra for instigating the fight. Yet, San Mig Coffee remains a formidable team with a bevy of solid players ready to step up anytime.

Of course, the main show of the match will be the head-to-head battle between two of the most explosive scorers in the league: James Yap and Marc Caguiao. Yap is fresh from 22 points explosion against Global Port while Caguiao had 20 points against Air 21. Yap and Caguiao shared prolific scoring performance as competitors several times and Sunday's matchup won't be an exception.

Kicking off Sunday's double header will be Barako Bull vs. Global Port at 5:15 p.m, who are both trying to get back to their winning ways.
