People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive: A Look Back For the Past 10 Years
Everything started in 1985 when Mel Gibson was hailed as People's Sexiest Man Alive. Since then the magazine has been putting gorgeous men who are worthy of such title on its cover. These men are judged according to their physical attractiveness and celebrity status.
The magazine is actively looking for those who have made quite a buzz in the Hollywood scene. Currently, Maroon 5's front man and 'The Voice' coach Adam Levine is People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2013. The Grammy award singer is now engaged to Victoria's Secret Model Behati Prinsloo and is taken aback by the prestigious title.
For the past 28 years, gorgeous men like Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford and Pierce Brosnan are few of the Hollywood studs who made it to the magazine's cover.
Here were the 10 men hailed as People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for the past 10 years:
Channing Tatum - 2012
The Alabama-bred actor almost bared it all in his 2012 movie, "Magic Mike," but still he is modest when it comes to his hotness. When asked how he reacted about the news, "My first thought was, 'Y'all are messing with me,'" Tatum said in People Magazine.
Bradley Cooper - 2011
With dazzling blue eyes, killer smile and a talent to back it all up, Cooper is a total package. "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this [title]," the "Hangover" actor said during an interview with People magazine.
Ryan Reynolds - 2010
Chiseled abs and humor, all wrapped into one hot package. "The Green Lantern" star can be funny and sexy, which makes him a hot commodity in Hollywood. He said having this kind of recognition will only give him family reason to tease him for the rest of his life.
Johnny Depp - 2009
Depp arresting magnetism remains unshaken despite his age. His added years only make him more irresistible. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor has been hailed twice as the Sexiest Man Alive, and I couldn't blame them.
Hugh Jackman - 2008
The Australian actor is a triple threat to those around him. This hunky dude can sing, dance and wield a weapon with no sweat. Even his co-star in the movie "Australia" Nicole Kidman could help to notice his oozing sex appeal. "Women's jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room," Kidman said in an interview with People.
Matt Damon - 2007
He was named by Forbes as America's most bankable star. Damon is not only hot, he is charming and humble. Voted by his two "Ocean 11" co-stars George Clooney and Brad Pitt, both were hailed as Sexiest Man Alive. Damon did not accept the prestigious award but was thankful for the recognition.
George Clooney - 2006
Joining pal Brad Pitt, George Clooney is not just Hollywood's sought-after actor but also active in social activism as he works tirelessly to help the troubled Darfur region of Sudan. Although he has been married once, Clooney is not planning to get married any time soon and just completely of being single.
Matthew McConaughey - 2005
With a life motto "Keep Livin," McConaughey is not your typical leading man. Thanks to his southern charm, the "Magic Mike" actor is happy to stay friends with his exes and reveals that he can be jealous at times.
Jude Law - 2004
With his supersize talent and good looks, Law is known for his movies like "Alfie," "I Heart Huckabees," "Closer" and "The Holiday" with Cameron Diaz. Australian actress Naomi Watts once described Law as "the most beautiful man who ever walked the earth."
Johnny Depp - 2003
Some people call him dirty while other call him the hottie. Depp still remains a man of contradictions and is not afraid to take risks when it comes to his movie roles.
Ben Affleck - 2002
The 16th man to receive the prestigious title, Affleck was dating Jennifer Lopez when he was hailed as the Sexiest Man Alive. Known for his movies like "Sum of All Fear," "Daredevil" and "Armageddon," he is now happily married to Actress Jennifer Garner.
