It was about John and his friends having new identities and trying really hard to not stand out from the rest of the crowd. Read on for the "Person of Interest" Season 4 recap of episode 1 "Panopticon" to find out what happened to John and company.

"Person of Interest" Season 4, episode 1 "Panopticon" was written by Greg Plageman and Erik Mountain. It was directed by Richard J. Lewis. Here's what happened in "Panopticon." Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) is now working at the perfume section of Bloomingdale's. John Reese is now known as Detective Riley, of the New York Police Department, or NYPD's narcotics squad. And, Harold Finch is now Professor Harold Whistler.

After keeping a low profile with their new identities, the Machine summoned Reese and Finch. They ended up getting a new number which Reese took as a signal that they need to go back to their previous work. However, Finch is not so keen on doing that again. Not yet, anyway.

Reese tracked down the number and he discovered that the person of interest, or POI is an electronics shop owner that is involved with a gang. He was hired to make a mobile network that could not be tapped. Unfortunately, his son was kidnapped by the said gang. Reese wanted to probe further, but Shaw stopped him because they will be exposed.

Root (Amy Acker) visited both Shaw and Finch. She went to see Shaw earlier at Bloomingdale's to ask for some beauty tips and also, to warn her to just lay low for now. Meanwhile, she told Finch that he can't ignore what needs to be done and he must pick a side in this war.

John, Harold and Shaw teamed up again to help save the POI's kid. After that, John gave Harold a phone that cannot be tapped. He will also give the other members of the team a similar phone which they will use to communicate with each other.

Detective Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman) also got a new partner and it's none other than Detective Riley a.k.a. John Reese.
