Samantha “Root” Groves (Amy Acker) may make some adjustments to the Machine, which was originally built by Harold Finch (Michael Emerson).

Finch will try to recreate and reprogramme the Machine . Both will discover that they will be battling a powerful entity that can end the entire human race and Finch will be focused more than ever on stopping the growing threat. Their relationship will also evolve as more of Root’s vulnerabilities start to show.

Emerson provided some details regarding the future episodes of “Person of Interest” Season 5, writes Comic Book Resources . He hinted that there will be some characters who will be lost, either through death or transformation. The transformation may have the characters move to either the good or evil side. Emerson said that viewers will see this in Sarah Shahi and Carrie Preston, most likely, because Season 5 might be the last. He added that the finale might be purposely made vague so that it can still be subject to continuations, as necessary. Emerson and executive producer Greg Plageman also mentioned the possibility of having a crossover with “Elementary,” starring Jonny Lee Miller (Sherlock Holmes) and Lucy Liu (Dr. Joan Watson). Emerson commented that it could be tricky though, because Sherlock and Finch are very similar.

Emerson talked to Indie Wire in August about endings in the show.

“Splashy endings usually involve casualties. So I think we’re likely to either lose characters or have them somehow transformed,” Emerson told Indie Wire . He added that the upcoming season will be darker than the previous ones, delving more into morality.

IGN reports that Jonathan Nolan and showrunner Greg Plageman shared their favourite “Person of Interest” episodes. They mentioned “Many Happy Returns” (episode 21) and “Firewall” (episode 23) from Season 1 and “Bad Code” (episode 2) and “Relevance” (episode 16) from Season 2. They also said that they liked “The Devil’s Share” (episode 10) and “Deus Ex Machina” (episode 23) from Season 3, as well as the episodes “If-Then-Else” (Season 4, episode 11) and “6,741” (Season 5, episode 4). Plageman said that they are becoming good at stringing together the stories of the show by using several episodes in a row. They were able to create the mind-blowing climax through the various episodes. He teased fans that the last three episodes of Season 5 will be amazing.

Season 5 of “Person of Interest” will reportedly only have 13 episodes, compared to previous seasons, which had an average of 22 episodes each. More news and updates about “POI” are expected to surface soon. The sci-fi crime drama is set to return in the midseason of 2016 on CBS. The first four seasons of “Person of Interest” was made available on Netflix in September.
