'Person of Interest' season 5 updates: Show still not on CBS' schedule; summer return predicted
'Person of Interest' still not on CBS' schedule
Season 5 of “Person of Interest” has not yet been reflected on CBS’ schedule. However, fans speculate that the shorter 13-episode show will be coming back in summer 2016.
CarterMatt reveals that the fifth season of “Person of Interest” is rumoured to be its last. When CBS announced the adjustments to the spring 2016 schedule, there were no updates regarding the sci-fi crime drama. Many think that the show might launch late in April or in the summer of 2016. A summer release may also be good for the show, considering how the competition with other networks is not as stiff at that time. Others even think that the show might be cancelled entirely.
Variety writes that executive producer J.J. Abrams thinks that Season 5 may be the last.
“My guess is it is the final season,” Abrams said at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California. “The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued. Jonah [Nolan] and Greg Plageman have done such an amazing job on that show. I know what these episodes are that they’re done wrapping it up,” Abrams added.
Abrams said that they do not have a schedule as to when Season 5 may premiere, but they are certain that people will be seeing the show in the future. He continued that he is grateful that the show lasted as long as it has and he would loved to see it continue. He also said that things can change if the ratings significantly improve. However, the idea is that the next season would be the finale, according to a TV Line report.
Showrunner Jonah Nolan also hinted that “Person of Interest” Season 5 may be the last. He said that they are proud of the show. If it is indeed the final season, Nolan said that fans will not be disappointed with the story.
There are also talks that the series may continue in another network. However, Abrams said that it is not their focus in the meantime. More updates and details on “Person of Interest” are expected soon.
